Friends don't send friends Evites

San Francisco, CA – July 12th, 2007 – It's generally known among web users that when it comes to sending or receiving event invitations, the most popular service is Evite. The word "evite" itself is becoming synonymous with online invitations among the younger audience who aren't as familiar with the website that released in 1998. Still, many people have been vocal about their frustrations with Evite. A product which is considered to be the standard is expected to evolve. Several alternatives have come up along the way, but usually come with baggage like requiring users to sign-up first, another social networking angle, or some new technology that users just aren't ready to adopt.

"It is a risk. When I'm about to put on on an event, there are a lot of things I have to worry about. Do I really want to ask my guests to join a new website just to RSVP and get the event info? No. My tendency is to use the most primitive tool possible because that is what is most proven and reliable. But there is also something to be said about being too primitive." says Crusher co-founder Ericson deJesus. "It takes more to engage the younger audience. They feel entitled to customization, they want to see pictures of their friends, they like chatter. With Crusher the party can start way before the first guest arrives and end long after the last guest leaves."

Recently, Crusher released crush3r.com [beta] to the public. It's a free service, there are no ad banners, and your guests are not required to sign up to use it. Crusher users can personalize their invite with custom colors and backgrounds, add utilities like a map and a convenient 'add to calendar' link, and add rich content like photos and video. Guests can help pick the best date, RSVP to the event, share their photos of the event, and participate in comment conversations.

Crusher was founded by veteran designers and developers from Yahoo, Ofoto and Frog Design, with a vision for creating engaging invitations for private events people put on as well as public events they organize friends to go to.
