From their website:
Gallery 16 is pleased to announce our second exhibition with Alice Shaw. In her last show at Gallery 16 Alice Shaw exhibited a body of work wherein she photographed herself with people who had something in common with her. Gallery 16 published a book of this work in April of 2006 entitled, People Who Look Like Me.
This time, in her show Alice Shaw: A Group Show, Shaw will display black and white photographs of herself and her physical opposite. In another body of work she will compare the photographs of Charles Dodgeson (a.k.a. Lewis Carroll) and E.J. Bellocq to question the use of the model as a source of inspiration and look at simultaneous invention in photography. A large color photograph will also be displayed.
Show runs from June 4th to July 12th
