Post-Graduation Fun Time
If you aren't doing anything in the evening on the day of GULC's graduation, come celebrate with Jeanette and me, with a laid back last hurrah at my house. I'm gonna barbecue a couple pork shoulders for some homemade pulled pork, and we're going to try to have all the fixins homemade, too, as well as plenty of non-pork stuff for vegetarians and their ilk.If you have plans after graduation, then don't worry about it. No pressure. Enjoy your time with your family. You'll just miss a nice evening chilling with me, Jeanette, our friends, and twenty pounds of roasted, succulent pig meat.
Feel free to bring your family and friends (Jeanette's parents will be there, for instance). We'll have some wine and beer (you're encouraged to bring more), some tunes (sorry, no Speedwagon this time), some smoky, juicy pork butts (it's just an old term for pork shoulder), and a couple diplomas (if all goes well).
My house is accessible by vehicle (with plenty of parking) or by Metro. Online directions will get you close, but not all the way, and cab drivers won't have any clue where it is, so please print directions.
From Cleveland Park Metro: Take East Exit, turn around and walk toward the corner of Connecticut and Porter (there's an Exxon station). Take a right on Porter, walk down the hill for about 7 minutes until you pass a few bus stops. There is a huge wooden staircase at the bottom that looks like it leads into an enchanted forest. There will be Christmas lights on said staircase, but they don't reach all the way to the bottom! Take the staircase up to the top, our house in on the right.
From a vehicle of your choice: Take Connecticut North to Porter, and turn Right. Go down the hill on Porter until you get roughly to the bottom, and are on a bridge kinda thing. Make a Left where it says "To Beach Drive" (you won't have advance warning, and there is no normal street sign). Then, IMMEDIATELY after turning Left, the road forks. Take the Left fork to swing back around under Porter and up a slight hill. Go until it dead ends, then turn right to go up a winding hill. We're at the top, on the right.
