Ritual Coffee Shop is known as a ‘hipster’ hangout boasting some of the city’s finest coffee. But it also exhibits some of the city’s most talented artists. Alexis Mackenzie has been curating and hosting shows here for the past two years. Some of the artists who have shown here are: Michelle Blade, Katy Horan, Eric Joyner, Chris Pew, Stephen Powers and Chris Onstad. Non Sequitur, guest curated by Sacha Eckes, will consist of all work that is framed in white, 20x20” frames. Each artist will create about 3 pieces that will be installed a few inches from each other. The show will be viewed as a sequential piece of art, an installation as it were. The content of the work however will be non-sequential and may remind the viewer of a narrative corpse. Tying it all together, Sacha Eckes will write a text: she will title each work in the exhibit using a sentence of the text.

About the curator: Sacha Eckes is an artist and curator. She has been curating exhibits at 111 Minna and other art spaces in San Francisco since 1997. She is also an artist and has exhibited in Los Angeles at New Image Art and Fette’s Gallery and at the Lab, the Adobe Back Room, City Hall, 111 Minna in San Francisco.
