KURASAWA/MIFUNE FEST
At The Castro Theatre, SF, CA
What to do with all this rain in San Francisco for the next seven days? Duck inside for a kickass movie or two or nine! The Castro will be host to many of the masterpieces showcasing the magical collaboration of actor Toshiro Mifune and director Akira Kurosawa.
The festival begins tonight with a double feature of two of my favorites, Yojimbo and Sanjuro. The Seven Samurai runs all day tomorrow. Then on Sunday you'll get a double feature of Throne of Blood and The Hidden Fortress (which George Lucas has acknowledged to be a huge influence on Star Wars). Rashomon and Stray Dog will be double-featured Tuesday, and on Wednesday, The Bad Sleep Well and High and Low will be double-featured.

Thanks, Eric! So... you have all the DVDs, eh? This is good for me to know. ;) I've seen most of the features save the Tuesday and Wednesday sets.

Oh yeah. I rewatch them often on a projector against my crappy wall. I'm just into great samurai films in general.
