In this first chapter, you will find four veteran RETTOCAMME dancers: Marcia Brooks, Emma Cotter, Aaron Graham, and Elisa LaBelle.
Joining us live in the very intimate space are four accomplished musicians: RETTOCAMME music director Jordan McLean (of Antibalas), Ty Bertrand, Luke Damrosch and Chris Kuklis. On Saturday night, we will have a special guest musician, The Sway Machinery's Jeremiah Lockwood, filling in for Jordan McLean who will be appearing on SNL with TV on the Radio that night!
A third more unexpected element helps shape the evening; a group of non-dancing photographers will defining the pathways of the dancers while documenting the piece from the inside out, capturing four distinct and intimate perspectives of the same moments. These four gentlemen: Robert Fournier, John Frame, Robert Gorski and Ryan Roth, all who can be found on Flickr, have been a part of the RETTOCAMME process, lurking in the shadows of theaters, galleries and on street corners to capture our adventures over the years. We the dancers have learned much more from these images than we might have from a studio mirror or rehearsal video. We also intend to turn the visual collection themselves into an installation in the near future.
Photographer and visual artist Ryan Roth will be providing "wearable art" for the evening and our lighting designer is Andy Dickerson.
And lastly, but most importantly, we have an incredible audience. Our cast alone includes an insurance compliance officer, an employee of the Port Authority, an emergency room doctor, two art handlers, a physical therapist, and a high school teacher, to name a few. The people we collectively bring together to observe our experiments represent a diverse range of careers, talents and perspectives. Consider this an excellent opportunity for networking and join us for a drink down the street at Sound Fix after the show!
RETTOCAMME is a process-oriented dance group founded in 2003 by Emma Cotter. Events are funded by RETTOCAMME design projects and RETTOCAMME art sales in addition to ticket sales and occasional artist stipends. Recent performances have included 60x60 Dance (World Financial Center and Galapagos), the Solar Powered Arts Series, and numerous installations in and around the Jonathan Shorr Gallery.
